holy shit 25k.
around minimum wage

Yep. There's no market for it yet so unless they wanna use an arbitrary cap it's gonna start low. Again though, it's gonna be a few hours of practice twice a week and then gameday. As the sport grows that'll rise, hopefully quickly. Gotta start somewhere :/ in theory they'll be able to juggle the sport and another job, and this'll help women with aspirations of Olympic hockey. But if it ends up a failed experiment then at least they have fallbacks.

Forgot to mention they all get health insurance as part of their contracts. Idk the specifics but that's several thousand dollars out of my pocket a year even with work paying more than half of mine.

And if you want to support them yourself a good portion of merchandise proceeds go to the players. That's a good way for them to ensure if the game takes off, the players reap the rewards.

25k isnt that bad depending were it is
one game a week rather than 2-4 games and one day off. So they can get other jobs,

thats the problem though
if we truely want better womens hockey we need them to make enough to not work so they can train and focus on getting better as a player
however thats a pretty decent start i guess

25k+ health insurance isnt that bad shit

Yep. Again though it has to start somewhere. In a 4 team league that is essentially an amateur league, they're not gonna sell out 18,000 seat arenas. Right now they probably have revenue projections based on sponsor commitments and polls. They'll revisit that range once there are attendance and merchandise numbers, and hopefully it'll be quite a bit higher next season. NWHL is only signing one year contracts right now, I'm sure that's what they have in mind.

around here 25-35k is like middle class not sure where that is based and cost of life but thats prob not too bad to live off of while playing hockey
i dont think 25k is the issue though its the girls making 10k thats likely needing to focus on other jobs
and if thats based in the states the health insurance is a pretty damn big bonus to have too

yeah i gues 25k is pretty low min wage full time is like 27k here
but they also get health coverage which can save them a good amount
you can prob live off that but its not like your going to have a car boat jet skis ect ect depends on cost of living where they are based really
but the ones getting 10k i think welfare people get more then that  but its pretty much 10k for a part time job
