How is the United Center as an arena? Is the atmosphere wicked? I want to consider going there for a game oneday
It all depends on where you sit. The last time I was at a Redwings/Hawks game at the UC was the last game they played one another while in the same division.
Ended up getting tickets for the game just a few hours before the puck dropped. Lower bowl, 5th row. I was sitting 2 rows behind the penalty box.
I've only sat closer one other time but that was at a Chicago Wolves game. I sat down in my seats and I thought it was going to be one of the best experiences I ever had.
I was wrong. The people sitting around me weren't even paying attention to the game. They talked the whole time about business. I would stand up and cheer and just get dirty looks from everyone around me.
Normally when I go, I sit on the 3rd level right in the corner. And I always have a great time. Mainly because you are sitting with the true fans.
The Madhouse is LOUD.... when the Hawks are winning. Score a goal on us and you can hear the cricket playing his tiny violin in the corner.
I almost want to go back to the days when the Hawks sucked.
Back then everyone was so wasted I don't think it mattered what the score was. Was always a party.
