Bettman has too much of a hard on for expansion into new markets for that to happen and rightly so. Somewhere like Toronto or Quebec might hit the ground running but it's not an investment in the future of the sport to go to a place where fans already root for someone. People have a max amount they're willing to spend on hockey between playing, merchandise, and going to games, and chances are a lot of people in those markets already do in one way or another.

QC and Toronto might spend a lot on the new team if they expand there, but they have to prove that's significantly more than the area spent before. Seattle and Vegas are going to spend magnitudes more than they would otherwise. Just a question of whether the game can take root there.

If there was say a Hamilton team i would support them, Obvi leafs#1 but would be happy to have more hockey around.

I think there are alot of people in the GTHA that would love another team and not currently leafs fans.

alot of Hamilton hates Toronto

but i also understand DX's argument

Canada in general is already in die hard support of one team or another, because of hockey obsession, In the us there are markets that would only start to care about hockey if a team is right in there face

Fans also spend more on their teams when their team wins. Obviously there's no one left in the world that believes toronto will ever win again so an expansion team can work in this case.
