The 1st overall was won with winnipegs place holder with like 2% but had a combined 25% chance or something like that. All the losers get equal 12.5% at the pick.
Where its bullshit is that teams like the pens and oilers were on the verge of clinching, now theyve both lost, so they will have odds aa good as 3rd worst team to pick lafreniere despite more or less being a lock to make the playoffs should the season have continued and ended normally.
The bottom half of the leagues teams have gotten a shot at foa in previous years no reason to change that. We can debate the % chance they have at it. Thing is the pens and oilers didn’t clinch, if we take this round as an extension of the curent season their performance represents shitting the bed and dropping out of the 16 teams that normally qualify.
Call it what you want but this intermediate portion on the season was to determine who the best 16 teams to compete for cup where.
