Pretty sure there is no waiting period and even if it takes time to get the money coming in they will be back paid.
But I don’t know. Here in Edmonton they are talking about suspending/defer utility payments and taxes. Along with a mortgage deferral. I’d be mighty fine on EI
My wifu is a dental hygienist and she self isolated for 2 weeks after the annual dental conference meeting held early march. Told her not to go or isolate herself at hotel after cuz I guaranteed someone there would most likely be infected. They sent out an email just last week to all dental workers that a dentist traveled abroad before attending the conference and tested positive, so everyone should self isolate or get tested if they have severe symptoms. She applied for ei early stating she couldn't work cuz she attended PDC and suspected she might have it (811 wouldn't let her test cuz runny nose, fever, sore throat isn't severe enough) she's just about to get paid now starting next week after this Friday's report lol.
Maybe they changed it to no waiting period now, but 1st week of March had waiting period. Also I figure having 500k+ apply for ei and calls being constantly hung up/on hold etc. I can't imagine it being applied right away and swiftly. They also have to wait for the code through a mail
Also I would avoid going to your dentist appointments, cuz there are still some running the office without isolating. I personally know a shady dentist that came back from her vacation end of Feb from Europe and she's not closing her office nor letting her patients know

this is probably common to most dental offices in BC cuz there's still quite a bit open with full staff despite all attending their annual dental conference early March.
