If you are not liking D3 I would suggest you check out Path of Exile. It is really good. Has the old school item modifiers like D2 did and no cartoon graphics like TL2.
Game is only $10 and open beta begins in Decemeber (which may be fully free now that I think of it).
PVP will not be released until an expansion.
Some things about D3 I like, but you can not make a game for everyone. Obviously they had great sales, and in time the game will probably correct itself and become decent; even to harsh critics of the game like myself.
I ended up quitting with the introduction of the paragon system as it made all my nice gear with res/gf/mf and good base stats worth significantly less because they base capped mf/gf to 300 when I was over 300 mf already + paragon levels made mf/gf worth way less and further reduced the itemization pool of the game.
In time that may be fixed though... however some people like the game the way it is, while I disagree more power to them. The point is to have fun.
