Whether he's innocent or not, it damages the league more than it damages him if they do nothing.
Hence why suspending with pay is the perfect solution, that way they are perceived as having done something with out punishing a potentially innocent person.
I don't know shit about the case i haven't read anything other than jsp regarding it, and I am not familiar with their CBA but I find it surprising that they can suspend without pay, without any evidence. and thus real cause for suspension. What does the agreement say about cause for suspensions? I suspect he is being suspend on the grounds of his actions being damaging to the league.
Lets say, hypothetically, It were a case where the alleged charges were proven to be baseless slander you dont think NHL or NHLPA (not sure which for this shit) would owe him damages for lost wages, reputation etc etc?
