It's a marketing thing. they have to root against each other. It creates fun social media rivalry too.

How can you not have a rivalry against your most common enemy? That's like Muslims and Christians agreeing on something. It just isn't right.

if you dont understand, you probably just started watching hockey in the last couple years. the LA/Anaheim rivalry has been going on for a while
