And when we don't have position we get Petey, boeser, and hughes
I was so pissed when I thought the Canucks were gonna get Tkachuk, and they passed on him for a D, safest d pick too, and he still hasn't played nHl and got owned by injuries gg.
Always pick bpa

lolnucks picking 10, i consider it a win since they only dropped by 1  i honestly expected 11.
10 is also the cut off where teams have a "choice" 11 and 12 pick are essentially picking whats "left"
hoping benning & co hits another home run pick. broberg, soderstorm, krebs, caufield should easily still be available in that range

Another disaster on lottery day.

At this point I would have no problems packaging the pick to bring in an impact player.

I don't think you are going to get a guy at 10th overall who can make a significant contribution in his first or second year.

Then again the Canucks have hit later first round picks out of the park before.

I guess it depends when you want to have your window moment. I think it should be in 2, maybe 3 years.

Maybe I am overly optimistic but I feel anything short of the playoffs next season would be a failure.

eh, the team still has too gaping holes to think about being serious playoff contenders and we might lose Edler for nothing. and honestly Markstrom was insane this season, middle of the road stats despite playing behind an absolute dogshit defense. we need more than Quinn to make it work.

agreed, still too much holes to fill still sadly, although the canucks core are somewhat coming together, hughes, petey, boeser, horvat, demko.
I dont think Edler will walk for nothing, he really loves vancouver and wanna stay. I can see him signing with the canucks even if benning does an asshole move and offer him 1yr/1mil contract
having quinn is huge though, his playstyle matches green's system. Just hope Green plays him as much as he can instead of worrying about Edler's hurt feelings.

Maybe I am being too optimistic.

I just think we need a top 6 power forward to add grit and create net presence of the powerplay.

If the Canucks can get a player like that + a higher end shutdown d-man I think they will be a playoff team.

Perhaps getting those two things is out of reach but I think if there is a willingness to move some picks it can be achieved.

Also with a good cap situation RFA's and UFA's can be targeted.

I only see the core getting better.

That is why I would rather see the pick packaged instead of waiting 2-3 years for the pick to make an impact, which is the likely scenario draft at 10.

yeah i get what you mean, i rather canucks become contenders for years instead of simply just making the playoffs and getting bounced right away though
if edler didn't go down for a while i think the canucks coulda squeaked by since other pacific teams are bad too, this is a season with 2 long lost streaks including that 13 game loss or something lol
i think the canucks need more offense from the blueline instead of getting another shutdown d-man, our team's huge weakness is blueline doing nothing to help offense, and just doing their best to keep the damage minimal.
We need more players like hughes, who can help carry the puck into zone, be creative, make plays and passes it would make our forwards have wayyy more energy to do their part.

You think Krebs will be there at 10?

I see him going 5-7 easy, closer to 7 though.
