As a oiler fan, I'm very excited for this year but the one player who has really stood out too me is Leon draisatl. He has been unreal at the world cup and, I'm excited as a oiler fan that him and sekera have a shot to win the world cup. Draisaitl seems on whole different level now and I think playing with some of the elite on team Europe and just to be around Anze Kopitar and see how he prepares may take him to a whole new level. If he wins the world cup he will have so much confidence heading into the season also you can't argue he's been one of the best players in the tourney, he really plays hard and and with a ton of heart too. I'm very happy for him and what he can bring to the Edmonton Oilers this year. Maybe I'm wrong, but he'll get nothing but better.

Chiarelli has done much so far as an oiler.
Can't deny this isn't a better team.

Well since he's been on the job he's been gifted with a generational player and another 4th overall pick, so it's not hard for the roster to look better.

But if Nurse, Davidson and Klefbom all build on their game, that defence won't look too bad.

Even if you like the philosophy behind the Hall trade, he still clearly lost it which isn't a good thing.

Nail Yakupov traded to Blues by Oilers
The Oilers received forward prospect Zach Pochiro and a conditional third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft that will become a second-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft if Yakupov scores at least 15 goals for the Blues this season.
