Yeah you'd keep the item.
White is normal, blue is magic (master item it says), yellow is rare, then orange is legendary (relic item) then you find green plans in well hidden chests etc, those are your witcher gear plans.

Even your alchemy and crafting components are colour graded as well. I'd recommend holding onto as much alchemy and crafting as possible. If I'm in desperate need of money I'll sell off a bunch of alchemy stuff but that's rare

Ok thanks! Is there alot of hidden chest/neat items to get me excited? Are monsters "farmable" (bosses) ala diablo or borderlands?

Uh well not really no. Random spawn monsters usually carry crafting and alchemy components. The good shit are chests, rewards and crafting.

New patch fixed the gold resetting shit

that was so annoying. I was sitting around 65000 and I'd have to keep checking that my gold didn't vanish on me.

I hoard and clear the undiscovered spots. Also never been robbed by a guard :). Gold is kind of useless though. Also I sell armor to armourers, etc for the best price.

Try hard.
