Eliáš is the only NHL player to be awarded two penalty shots in overtime. Both occurred in separate games versus the New York Islanders, and in both cases, Eliáš missed the penalty shot.

lool didn't know the first one
The thing you're trying to say is that he's one of the best Devils ever. Sure, that's well and dandy which means he'll get his number retired by the Devils.
When you look for consideration into the HHOF, being the highest scoring player your team has had isn't necessarily something that plays a huge role.
Sure, it's a nod in the right direction, but just because the Devils retire his number doesn't mean shit to the HHOF.
If you take all those numbers and compare them to the crop he should be up against, you get this:
Most overtime goals in a season (4) - Presumably tied for second with a large group of people, behind Stamkos (5)
Most points in a season (96) - 339th all time.
Most points in the playoffs (23) - 106th all time
Playoff goals (45) - 65th all time
Assists (80) - 38th all time
Points (125) - 45th all time
Career Hattricks (8) - idk, but I would presume 8 is very low all time.
Career Assists (555) - 98th all time
Career Points (930) - 92nd all time
Career Goals (375) - 107th all time
Career GWG (78) - 29th all time
While his regular season numbers are pedestrian, by HHOF standards imo, his playoff numbers and success in the playoffs (two Cups) should help his cause most of all.
He's benefited from a long career, but his numbers aren't eyepopping by any standards.
Again, I wouldn't call him a lock, but I would say that these numbers give him a shot in weak years.
