I'd like to see hudler stay, every time we have someone break out we trade him, or we'll trade the break out player before it happens

I want to see if Hudler can do it again

The issue is really Hudler vs Giordano. Your entire team is up for contracts this and next year. I wish I were exaggerating but Brodie and stajan are the only guys signed for more than two years, and stajan barely meets that.

Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett, Backlund, Jooris, maybe Bouma, are all getting paid. Hiller and Ramo are both up. When it comes down to it, Hudler could legitimately ask for $7m, so could Giordano.

I'm not going to even try to play arm chair GM with this team, there's far too many variables and it's really anyone's guess at how the contract negotiations will go.. but honestly kane toews make 21mil a year and the hawks can build a team with that hit (i understand what their future roster will become)

All I'm saying is I'd like to see how Hudler does with monahan and gaudreau again

He's got a year on his contract so you'll see it ;) I'd love to seem them contend next year, such a likeable team. They're in a great position for 2015/2016, it's just that they have so much contract turnover coming up :\

I'm still not sold on this team, I think there's some good pieces but they were playing over their skill level last year and other than the top 6 and a couple d men the rest of the team needs improving

I'd be ok with shipping Hudler off for overpay. Honestly, they just want to keep that top line together, best line in the NHL by far in March at least. So much of this year was about chemistry and the room. Big moves like that can be dangerous for morale, for lack of a better word.

We were absolutely playing over our heads, but now is the time to make a few tweaks, and the experience of last year will be just huge for the young team moving forward. The Flames made the playoffs without Bennett, without Ferland-beast mode. We haven't yet seen the ceiling on Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie, or Bennett, etc. Next year will be tougher because the bounces will catch up to us, but I'm hoping the development can counter that, somewhat.

As far as Hudler and Detroit, just an idea. So many other teams would be interested, as he's the best points-to-$ value around right now, and he's attainable for the right price. But I would absolutely take a run at Mantha ffs. Guy has a Nashville and Forsberg vibe to him.

I don't like Mantha. I'd be upset if we traded for him.

Treliving on all their draft picks: "I've had a handful of NHL players offered but I've hated every one of them."

Center was our week spot for about a decade. Crazy that it's now our strongest position probably. Monahan, Bennett, and Backlund will be holding that down for years. And we have so many other natural centres, many of whom are sure to move now.

From flamesnation.ca:

"Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp are in some ways linked in this scenario. The Flames could submit a reasonable offer sheet on Saad forcing the Blackhawks to match which puts them over the cap. $5 million would probably be enough to put the screws to them and the compensation in that range is a 1st and a 3rd round pick. If they don’t match, you’ve just acquired a 22 year old center with some very good potential. If they do, you can turn around and make a trade offer for Sharp, a $5.9 million cap hit for two more years, and because of the corner you’ve put them in likely walk away without paying full price. Say a 2nd and a prospect like Markus Granlund."

That's so evil. interesting thought.
