INDIVIDUALS ARE APART OF THE TEAM.
Each member of the Red Wings have a specific role to fill, that is tailored especially for their skill set.

Stuart isn't going to put up points, but show me a better shot blocker, hitter, penalty killer on the Canucks.
Kronwall isn't going to put up first pairing points, but he's leading the playoffs in blocked shots and is one of the best hitters in the league. Also he has to skills to match anyone on the canucks offensively as evidenced by his numbers that he put up on the second pairing.

This is off topic, I've more made this topic to show case great leadership in the playoffs from the like's of players like Shane Doan, Toews and Ovechkin. Not to challenge some uniformed Canucks homer.

Which is why you dont see the Sedins killing penalties and instead spend 80% of their time on the ice in the oppositions zone. I hope you've clarified stuff for yourself and I hope you've reasoned out a better understanding of this great game.

Edler > Stuart by MILES.

/e Also, you capitalize that individuals are part of the team which is correct but you then go on to discredit the Twins because parts of the rest of the team weaken the overall efforts. Funny.

After missing nearly 30 regular-season games with a knee injury, Yzerman led the Red Wings to their 10th Stanley Cup with a team-high 23 points, playing on a knee that required reconstructive surgery in the offseason and knocked him out of the first 66 games of the 2003 season

You need your best players to be your best players all over the ice.

That's why I "LOL", at Canuck fans that think the twins are even decent playoff performers. And that's why real teams like Philly with Mike Richards, Anaheim with Getzlaf, Chicago with Toews and Pittsburgh with Crosby are always challenging for a cup.

Your best players have to set an example.

Based on what points?

Because it certainly isn't defense. You switch players and the Wings would be worse off with Edler than Stuart.

And Sedins don't kill penalties because they aren't leaders. You think Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, or Datsyuk will say no to the coach when they get chose to play an important part of the team?

Do you think the Wings would have been better if Yzerman kept putting up 100+ point seasons instead of focusing on defense?

Sedins dont kill penalties because we have other role players that already do a great job at it. (Best PK in the league). As I've said to you before Sedins used to kill penalties and were very good at it but it's not a role that the coach wants to use them in.

Edler is more talented, more physical and has better overall hockey sense than Stuart. I can't beleive you are even arguing this. A possible future Norris winner against some 2nd or 3rd pairing scrub.

You've never watched Stuart play have you?

He's the best defensive defenseman in the league.

You are so caught up into numbers, you need to see that it's as important to keep the puck out of your own net, as it is to put the puck into the opponents.

Once again I'll ask, Do you think the Wings would have been better if Yzerman kept putting up 100+ point seasons instead of focusing on defense?

What does being "more physical and having better hockey sense" have to do with numbers?
