I'm thinking about doing it as soon as I'm old enought. I think you have to be 26 to rent one.

There's also a maximum distance you can do, and if you bust they charge you x dollars per km.

You can get around the age issue. I don't know if they fraudulently enter your age in their records to be honest but I bet they do. I think that's why places like Enterprise or Discount won't give you a car if you're under 25. I rented the Viper when I was 25 they just made me buy the most expensive deductible package. Car was like $300 for the day and I had to pay an extra $100. They gave me 150KM and it was 0.75 cents for every KM I went over. I think I went like 180KM on it.

I had to put a $5000 security deposit down though. Was just a check though pretty sure they never even check to see if it would bounce or not  But for a Lamborghini it's like $10,000 or maybe even more. Would be fun though. I got to drive a mid-1990s Diablo a few years ago and it was a blast. Wasn't in very good mechanical condition but even it's just kind of surreal to drive a car where literally everyone you drive by looks at you.

a real gangster would just buy the lambo

Yeah than have the CRA come down on your for paying cash for a $300,000 purchase no thanks. Gangsta like that goes to jail for tax evasion. Real OG washes his money first and avoids overt attention grabbing purchases.

Yeah it sounds pretty fun.

What's the security deposit for though ? If you crash the lambo 10k isn't gonna change anything. And don't they have insurance for this ?

I'm not going to steal that 200k dollars car because I gave them a 10k deposit. Said no one ever

I bet they have gps in their cars and everything so it's pretty much impossible to steal anyway.

Haha I figured you'd say this. Let's just say that with a stolen $200,000 Lambo you're never going to be able to sell it in Canada. Or the US for that matter. I also can't think of a chop shop willing to cut up a stolen Lambo. Most cars have the vin's stamped into every expensive part, on a Lambo that's like every single part. So you're not selling it in Canada and you're not chopping it up for parts. About the only way you're making money is by putting it into a sea crate and shipping it over to China, the Middle East, etc. And if you steal a Lambo in Toronto, that means somehow getting it to the West Coast without it being found, then getting it on a ship. There's profit in it, but now factor in a fixed cost of $10,000 that you lose no matter if they find it before it even gets out of Ontario?

It's deterrence. Now every now and again an exotic sports car does get stolen, but it's almost never from a rental agency. The day or so they give you for the car is plenty of time to get it on a covered truck heading out west (and disable anything that might make it easier to track), but still not worth the risk. It might happen out West where it's easier to simply get the car on a ship and send it away, but in Ontario I've never heard of anyone doing it even among the usual suspects.

Yeah I agree it's unlikely that anyone would try to steal the car, but if someone is willing to do what you just said and ship it to China or whatever I doubt they would really care about the 10k deposit.

It's just it's pretty unlikely you're going to get it to China in the first place. Why waste $10,000 when it's going to be found on route to port or at the port.
