Also gotta give Horvat huge props, green stuck him with grinders to shutdown avs (sutter/beagle role) and he won like 24 faceoffs that game too.
When hughes joins the canucks, their pp will be even more deadly. Pouliot is way too inconsistent.
I think our rebuild will be much slower if we can't get kakko/hughes but it's satisfying AF to see our team stars being found in later picks outside of top 3. Unlike most teams being gifted 1oa or 2oa for instant stars. Even if we don't get top pick this year, I hope the canucks can find a gg defenseman cos lolnuck D is that pretty sad... Both of them should be absolutely ashamed.
Pouliot shows offensive flare at times but overall I don't trust him. At least not yet. To me a defenseman should be a defenseman first. You want to have confidence that you can put someone out there knowing they will shut the opposition down and give no free plays out there.
Tyramkin is rumored to potentially return, as he is pissed his captaincy was stripped from him back in the KHL.
I was sad to see him go. I thought he was really starting to fit in well towards the end. That being said I don't know if you want to bring him back in a year or two out of the blue when we are trying to develop from within.
Pettersen is exciting to watch whenever he is on the ice. He never has a dull shift. Something is always going on with him. Boeser also seems to have a good read on how he plays, so combine that with his offensive talent and you have a great combo.
Our D will look completely different going forward, probably as soon as next year.
MDZ is as good as gone, Edler rumors are swirling as he's an upcoming UFA and we're definitely not bringing back both Hutton and Pouliot, if either. At least 2 LDs will be gone to make room for Juolevi and Hughes.
Tryamkin will stay in the KHL next season, but the season after room will have to be made for him on the right side. I like Stecher but he's not untouchable. Hard to say what's going to happen with Tanev and Gudbranson going forward. Suffice to say, getting that legit young RD that can play the PP is our biggest need going forward.
