No but many of the same principles of marketing and maximizing revenue apply.

Fair enough. It amazes me how that principle of marketing makes people so willing to pay so much more for something that's an inferior product unless you purchase the rest of the equally overpriced product line. And even then it's debatable.

Samsung's smart phone business plan is literally to copy whatever Apple does.

Yet they do it cheaper with fewer bugs and make it more customizable. Also they give you the option to buy a phone that won't get a cracked screen if a fly lands on it.

To be honest I find Apple is pretty reasonable. There's cheaper options but not significantly cheaper and they tend to be in pretty shady places.

iPad Air screen repair for 250 from Apple vs 79 from a dude that has a business doing this.

250 ain't reasonable

Apple will give you a better guarantee though. If your screen stops working 32 days after the other guy repairs it I bet you he points to a one month guarantee on parts. I've seen a LOT of cases where people get screwed over with a screen that stops working after a couple months. Then you're out another 80 bucks then 80 more 3 months after that.

Honestly if it works just keep using it lol. My iPad has had a cracked screen for 3 years, but after about 5 minutes of use I don't notice the cracks. It got hit in the corner though and spider webbed out so it's really not distracting.

But yeah if you want it done with complete peace of mind it's gonna be the 250. Or you can roll the dice. I popped for Square insurance so I can get Samsung to guarantee the repairs and it's only $85 deductible.

People aren't as smart or rational as we'd like to believe. You have upper-middle class 18-19 year olds insisting their parents buy them a $2500 MacBook Pro because it's "the best" when there is $1500 PCs that not only has better specs, but a better warranty, is thinner, and doesn't use Apple proprietary technology that easily breaks and costs a lot to replace.

Apppe isn't the only company to do this either. We see it a lot with fashion brands, where the brand image is high, but the build quality is low and the profit margins are huge. It's sad, but it's really just smart business.

Well at $79 you're not only not getting a knockoff OEM screen, you're getting a really crappy one and it's being installed by a guy who needs to do it very fast to make a profit. You want something decent you're paying $150+.

$250 is a lot but compared to decent aftermarket replacements it's not that much more. I had to replace my IPhone screen a few months ago and the store charged me like $170. Not much else that isn't shady as fuck a lot lower than that.
