Fair enough. It amazes me how that principle of marketing makes people so willing to pay so much more for something that's an inferior product unless you purchase the rest of the equally overpriced product line. And even then it's debatable.
People aren't as smart or rational as we'd like to believe. You have upper-middle class 18-19 year olds insisting their parents buy them a $2500 MacBook Pro because it's "the best" when there is $1500 PCs that not only has better specs, but a better warranty, is thinner, and doesn't use Apple proprietary technology that easily breaks and costs a lot to replace.
Apppe isn't the only company to do this either. We see it a lot with fashion brands, where the brand image is high, but the build quality is low and the profit margins are huge. It's sad, but it's really just smart business.

iPad Air screen repair for 250 from Apple vs 79 from a dude that has a business doing this.
250 ain't reasonable
Well at $79 you're not only not getting a knockoff OEM screen, you're getting a really crappy one and it's being installed by a guy who needs to do it very fast to make a profit. You want something decent you're paying $150+.
$250 is a lot but compared to decent aftermarket replacements it's not that much more. I had to replace my IPhone screen a few months ago and the store charged me like $170. Not much else that isn't shady as fuck a lot lower than that.
