Stars are talented but they just don't have enough quality defensemen. They beat the Penguins 3-0 the other game. They've had some quality wins against some top tier teams. But they underachieved too many games and won't make the playoffs. It's just another wasted season in all honesty.

Starting the month of January with a 1-9 record pretty much did them in. Since then any excitement I had for them has been thrown out the window. Tonight's 4-3 loss to the Avalanche is just the way the entire month has gone.

I'm about to watch the Stars and Devils game on Fox Sports Southwest. Maybe the Stars can end the month of January with a nice home win. Their record this month is 4-9-1 so I'm hoping they can at least avoid a 10th loss. If only they had a few more wins and four or five more points they would be in the playoff race. They're just too far behind. 7 points behind the Canucks for the 8th seed. They can probably catch the Coyotes for 9th in the Western Conference but that doesn't do any good.

The Stars lost 3-2 in overtime. They were out-shot for the entire game 24-16 and it was a tough one to watch. Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin scored the two goals for the Dallas Stars to make it somewhat interesting but it wasn't enough. Seguin's goal with 52 seconds left in the game is what sent it to overtime.

Patrik Elias scored a 4-on-3 power play goal in overtime to win it for the Devils. That entire sequence was just too easy to be honest.

The Dallas Stars ended the month of January with a 4-10-1 record. It's difficult to watch this team play because they are better than that.

Ouch 16 shots lol.

This is obviously not going to be the Stars' year, but I would be pretty optimistic for the future if I was a Dallas fan. You guys have a good prospect pool and some great young players already with the big club. If they stay together, Benn - Seguin - Nichushkin will tear up the league for a decade.

Strong new management helps, as well. Underrated moves bringing in veterans like Horcoff and Gonchar to help the kids along, perhaps more off the ice than on.

Probably won't be a playoff team next year either but in a few years down the road, could have a strong team :O

Just need support for seguin benn. Lehtonen constantly showing signs of brilliance. Moar depth, solid d core and some playoff experience. Dallas will be one of top teams in the league imo

Nice 4-1 home win over the Hurricanes. The Stars have won four of their last five games.
With 66 points, I believe they moved back into the 8th seed. Can they make the playoffs?
24 games left and the guys on the Stars post-game show believe it's possible so we'll see.
