Hasn't even been a day and I'm already done with pokemon go. They did this super poorly. The servers are so slow that by the time it loads a pokestop I've passed it, even on foot. Probably an early release thing but also the thing doesn't run in the background so I can walk 10 miles and it doesn't think I've moved unless the thing is in front of my face the whole time which defeats the purpose of going for a walk.

They need to have temporary local storage so you don't have to wait for servers to update everything and it should sync up with the pedometer in your phone or even a fitbit. The GPS works with or without the app open, use it.

i was reading online that Na isnt suppsoed to have pokemon go yet which might be why your having the server issues
also saw the guy say they are banning anybody using it early but im not sure if thats true or not

I assume server speed will be fixed either way. As soon as this hit reddit, server activity probably exploded. That doesnt address the underlying issue though, what happens if they go down or you're in a low reception area where GPS still works? They fix all of that by loading a mile radius onto your phone's temporary files. Then you sync up when the connection is re-established.

Idk it's just unplayable right now and the premise is stupid. Tried to use it on a dog walk and having the thing in front of my face while there's stuff to look at all around me was just stupid.

i imagine once they release for NA and have NA based servers that issue would be fixed

Again. What happens if you're walking and get into a low reception area? The game becomes unplayable. There are plenty of checkpoints in known dead zones where you can't connect to servers but GPS works fine.

Whole thing just seems shortsighted, no matter where the servers are located. I don't think this is one that I'm gonna continue with even when they fix them.

What's the point of walking if you've got your nose stuck in the phone and aren't paying attention to your surroundings though? It doesn't play in the background, it has to be open and on screen to work. Woo hoo sunlight?

Lol. I'm just waiting for some kid to get hit by a car while trying to catch a squirtle. Or someone's gonna wander down a back alley and get stabbed. Anything that makes you not pay attention while outdoors is bad juju.
