I'm curious if Ottawa would try to hire Chiarelli at end of season

since Murray's health should be his priority and they just lost his replacement to Buffalo

As others have already reported, fully expect an announcement tomorrow from Oilers on Chiarelli. Likely to be POHO but not confirmed.

That's a tweet from all of tsn guys

So apparently the new rule about teams surrendering a draft pick if a team poaches a front office person also applies to fired coaches and GMs. So sharks, for example, could demand a draft pick from whoever hires McLellan. BUT, that would mean McLellan stays on the sharks' books.

Though it sounds like that's a technicality, the rule was meant for guys like Jim Nill who the wings would have gladly kept. They'll probably amend it.

the only way that would make sense is if mclellan for example took a contract for less money than he was making in sj

I haven't read anything about the coaches staying on payroll with former team.

. He wasn't fired though . They mutually ended the contract. He isn't tied to SJ at all
