they do mean something if you look at gun crime rates in countries with strick laws vs loose laws but i agree there are more effective solutions which was the point of my post.



There might have also been more separate incidents in general. more people having guns is not the answer.

They absolutely do. Just because it's not a direct causal link between stricter laws and less gun crime doesn't mean there isn't a correlation. Chicago's issue isn't gun laws its gangs. If Chicago had gun laws like Texas we'd see every mugging/carjacking turn into a murder as well because the attackers would simply kill the person they want to rob first rather than risk they'll pull a gun on them. In South Africa where white people despite the laws often carry weapons for self-defence, most muggings/break-and-enters result in murders.

People commit crime because they think they have no other choice. Petty gang members aren't scared from acting because they have a high risk of being caught, they certainly aren't scared from acting because they might get hurt.

my dad did some work for a couple that moved to canada from there because of an incident
and by incident i mean their teen daughter saw her best friend get shot for her cell phone
they said it was so weird walking through a neighborhood and not have to be carrying

Both movies will suck.
