If he has to sign a pro tryout deal first, I doubt he's expecting a ton of money..

exactly. he have probably been looking at ~2-ish? and now he have to do everythinghe can to net a decent job. TOR maybe said "hey, we paid clarkson 5.3, it's cool. we can overpay for you too, but we just need to make it look smooth, so come on a PTO"

Yeah, it's weird how he didn't just sign a contract. As much as I don't like him as a player, he's still valuable at 1-2M. I can't imagine no team out there offered him a contract like that.



Maybe they said we'll give you a fair contract if you look good at camp.

i don't think they have him there to sign him, i think it's to put pressure on kadri, to showing him they can move on without him on the team

I don't really see how that makes sense considering Raymond is a 3rd line winger, a spot the Leafs needs to fill.

Maybe if he was a center with enough offensive upside to be a temporary 2nd line center or a 3rd line center that could push Bolland up for the short-term.

If they don't have Kadri, there's a gaping hole down the middle.

well for centers they have bozak, bolland, mcclement and colborne so they could make it work, but their lineup looks a lot better with kadri as the 2c. the main reason i say that is because the only situations where i see the leafs signing him, is if they can't get kadri on the contract they want or they plan on trading someone off like liles. it just seems a little odd to me with their tight cap space as is
