why would he go to the leafs? we are rebuilding. we dont need a 35+ year old guy who's knees have seen ebtter days. if anything i would expect the flyers try and sign him

kovalchuck is 31, 33 when that season begins.

if hes anything like jagr send him our way

he'll want a long term deal though. it wont be a year to year deal like jagr. plus as i said his knees arent in the best shape anymore

if he does come back i can see him getting a 4-5 year deal

He isn't going to be in his prime but he will be a top player

Kovalchuk will still be great and the owners would be crazy to bar him from coming back. He fills seats and it could encourage more talent to come over.

If he does come back he should still be the Devils property I believe.

True, but the story seems to be that the financially-stressed Devils pressured him to retire. Then the Devils got him off the books and even got their draft pick back. I could see some owners out there pretty pissed off at all that the Devils got away with if Kovalchuk just suits back up with them.
