in mlb you can trade the whole way through the season but they don't have playoff eligibility after the august 31 deadline

during the playoffs yes not during the season i think?
playoffs the season is over for non playoff teams so they can trade n do w/e iirc

boston did it with marty turco. he wasnt able to play in the playoffs

You can make trade but players are not allowed to play until next year. Atleast that's how it was before.

i though u could make a signing during the season but they cant play in the playoffs
and you could only trade once the playoffs have sarted and a non playoff team

so teams who don't make the playoffs trade all their UFA for nothing at the end of the season to playoff teams lol

trade deadline for playoff eligibility makes a lot of sense
