partank
have you tried to install it in a new directory?like make a folder on desktop and install there
if its not working becasue of shit in the current directory give it a new one

This won't fix it if it's a registry issue.
The installer can and will still detect traces of office within the windows registry if it wasn't a clean and full uninstall.
Hence why I hate office programs.

It has to target Microsoft Office specifically.
They have remove it tools to help remove dirty installs and leftovers but sometimes even they don't work.

Doing it manually is an option but can leave your pc fucked right up.

The link I put up gives you the best options for removal of old versions.
Hope it helps.
If not, bottom line would be back up your stuff and do a clean windows install.
