I'm actually much happier with d3 now than when it came out but only with a specific group of friends who take it about as seriously as I do. We added my buddy's PT last night and he left because we didn't want to leave adventure mode at level 21 to kill the skeleton king just cuz "that's how you're supposed to do it." We wanted to keep dicking around.

That's what's frustrating about league and dota also. Play the meta, you have to be ranked in the second highest tier or higher or you're a scrub. Call me a scrub all you want but we're both in norms and I'm in a troll lane kicking your meta loving ass.

I primarily play with two other people, we're in different corners of the US (DC, Texas, and Alaska) and it's how we keep in touch. On a team of 5 you tend to get at least one of the other two guys who is super gungho.

And honestly it kills the fun to be called a scrub or berated by anyone, even the opposing team. Never had that issue with IRL rec leagues, but people are pieces of shit if they can't see you. Nice to have the mute function but when you have to use it, that usually means it's gotten bad enough that the game isn't as fun as it could be.

im right there with ya but its how she goes.
there is a mode in dota that i play specifically for that reason. people rage way too much


not sure what rec leagues you join but there are always a few beakers on the other team in hockey lol

Nah, the ones around here are just a bunch of people trying to blow off some steam after shitty work weeks. I do all mine through DC United Social Sports, so the hockey folks tend to be the same guys I played cornhole, soccer, softball, volleyball, etc. with at various times.
There's obviously some chirping but we all know each other so it's friendly. Plenty competitive as well. Just feels like shinny or like back in college when someone knocked on your door and you played volleyball on a whim.

Course every once in a while you do get a guy who jabs you in the back with his elbow in front of the net. We had a fight break out over that in the last hockey league I was in before I went to USS.
