Pavel Datsyuk ✔ @Datsyuk13

Signed 3 yr. extension. Detroit, glad to be here for 4 more yrs. Thanks to our fans, friends and Ilitch family @DetroitRedWings @danmilstein

per WIIM: Per Capgeek, Pavel's cap hit is going to be $7.66M over each of the next 3 years. That's a raise of less than $1M per season to stay in the NHL until the end of his career.

according to Khan : $10M, $7.5M, $5.5M

Quick rundown of draft picks so far.

1st - #20 - Anthony Mantha. 50 goals with Val D'or, praised for hockey sense and shooting ability.
2nd - #48 - Zach Nastasiuk - PK specialist, hard worker. Needs to work on skating. Would likely be a 3rd liner.
2nd - #57 - Tyler Bertuzzi - Todd's nephew, originally projected to go in the 200s. An agitator, "makes Andrew Shaw look like a lady byng winner." --- Pierre
3rd - #79 - Mattias Janmark-Nylen - He has a lot of skill, good offensive instincts, decent body. Feet are a little heavy. A pick from Hakan Andersson, the guy responsible for both Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
4th - #109 - David Pope - Big body with scoring capabilities. Not a ton of information out there on him from what I see. Committed to play at the University of Nebraska so that will be telling.
5th - #139 - Mitchell Wheaton - BIG body (6'5, 225 lbs), not so good on the powerplay but great at closing gaps and getting in the lanes. Decent skater but some work to be done. Stay at home, once he learns to use his size a bit more he'll be a scary guy.
6th - #169 - Marc McNulty - another big body, 6'6". Needs to add some weight but moves well and has a bit of an offensive upside. Specializes in matching up against star forwards and containing them.

7th - #199 - hampus melen - scrawny guy (6'2", 148 lbs), will probably be a project. He NEEDS to put weight on, but he's a winger who has scored well over PPG his whole career. Risky pick, could be good could be someone we release in a few years.

I like what I see.
Goal scoring and size/grit. Nicely done. Trading 2 down to get 2 2nds- perfect.
