Thomas agrees to terms with Toronto on a 8 year 64 M deal. 57 M first year, 1 M a year remaining 7.

Vezina + Conn Smythe + Stanley Cup in 1 year

His rep is fine. His rep is that he's a good goalie

With strong d in front of him. Not disagreeing, just saying he didn't exactly carry his team

His rep is that he had a social media meltdown and got in a hissy fit because Rask was going to take over as starter so he failed to report. Great goalie is fine but he's only getting older and teams don't like divas you can't count on.
I wouldn't pay 5 for him. Maybe similar to Jagr's contract, 2m with 2m in potential bonuses. Oilers could make sense honestly, do a deferred bonus structure and they can lay some of his salary over to next year when Hemsky is off the books. They have 3.5-ish million they can work with, capgeek has two extra players who will be in the minors.

thomas didn't carry his team? thomas put in one of the all time great playoff performances and he didn't carry his team?

he had great D, yes, but do you really believe that anyone could have done what he did in the finals? i understand that in your book, anyone outside of brodeur, gets carried by a strong team

i wouldn't mind thomas for a year or two, the problem is the situation with social media, some teams can't take the bad rep

There are a lot of teams Thomas would not do well on though, to be fair. His play style absolutely NEEDS the team to be able to clear pucks quickly and consistently.

i didn't ask if he could reproduce the run with another team, i asked if any other active goaltender could have done it? gigueres run might be close to it/better, but outside of that, i don't think anyone active have done the same

Even though that's not what I said, I'll humor you and pretend I did to an extent. For the finals at least, he had a strong overall pretty stacked team in front of him while the nucks lacked scoring strength which you can see by the score of the Bruins home games

Nowhere did I say any goaltender could do it, but I could see other goaltenders pulling it off. what thomas did was not a once in a lifetime performance
