Hall and macdavid both like to carry the puck into the o-zone so it was obvious that combo wasn’t ideal, hall and Leon has some amazing chemistry while 97 was injured in his first year, it fizzled as soon as 97 was back in the line-up tho.
Eberle and macdavid didn’t make sense why eberle basicly went pointless in the 20 games or so last year he played with 97, but that combo was a total dud.

Cammellari and JP both has good chemistry with 97, finding a talented winger for 97 is eze , Hopkins or Leon or JP. The line needs some size with more speed than lucic or maroon.

Imo lucic / Hopkins together since they both made each other better prior to Hopkins injury. 97/29 together since 29 provides that size, need to find a shooter to finish that line since cammelarri isn’t gonna be here next year.

I really hope PC doesn’t blow things up to try save his job.
There’s 4 pretty obvious things that resulted in this years disaster:

97 was not himself for most of the first 40 games this year due to his flu like symptom thing. The difference between 97 before and after Christmas is night and day.
same thing for 29 , his concussion took till almost the all-star break till he was playing like he did last year.
Sekera missing basicly the whole year meant every other d-man was playing out of his comfort zone
Combine sekera with Larson’s personal issues and we had our 2 most reliable d-man half there and only nurse stepped up his game to make up the loss

Yes. You’re pretty spot on with everything there and I agree 100%. Shitty season but a chance at Dahlin isn’t that bad I guess. Just have to hope pc doesn’t like you say, try to protect his job and trade rnh for “cap space”

Overall a cautious optimism for next season.

I think I recall hearing Mcdavid lost close to 15 pounds due to that flu. Obviously that takes a long time to recover from.

Overall, like you said, many players had down years and there was injury trouble.

I really think so long as nobody gets jumpy at blows it all up this team will do just fine if they can find someone to play with Mcdavid and Draisatl. You can not expect 2 players to do ALL the work offensively. Although Nuge was not terrible before he missed a huge chunk from injury.

Hopkins was overall our best player quite easily over the first 40.

Easy to find someone to replace maroon , hard to do for the price we can afford.
10mil for 7 roster spots , one of them Maroons replacement on top line.

What do you think of Puljujarvi?

I would like to see him take some big steps next season but I am not sure if he is ready.

He’s doing well , him and strome have some chemistry. I think he could play in the top 6 next year but if leaving him on 3rd line spreads out the scoring a bit that’s ok too. I thought him and 97 clicked well too, but he wasn’t ready for minutes against the oppositions best.
