> 'all their star players leave'
- Parise's contract expired; wanted to go home (would've happened had he been anywhere else)
- Clarkson's (if you consider him a star player) contract expired; wanted to go home (would've happened had he been anywhere else)
- Kovalchuk wanted to go home which he's stated for years (would've happened had he been anywhere else)
- Elias is not a star player although he leads our franchise in points and led last season in points - l0l ok
- Zajac is a great 1C, and was one of the best faceoff men last season even though overall he had a bad year - guess he's not a star huh? fuck logic
- Brodeur... don't even have to go there ROFL
> 'prospect pool is pathetic' like 7 players in the minors are projected to be ready to play in the NHL come October 'pathetic' ROFL
> 'need to get a new goaltender'
- ROFL... Schneider ? ? ? ? ? ? Better than Habs/Oilers/Panthers goalies as of right now and is still pretty young - will learn even more under the vet marty. He beat all of their goalies in Sv% and GAA over his career.
- Brodeur is still a top 15 goalie at his age
> 'stuck in pathetic attempt of a rebuild'
- uhm.. we went to the finals a year ago.. aside from three players moving, not much has changed - if anything the team is better now with talent spread out as opposed to in just 2 players
- Sure, I'm not denying that moves like that hurt the team, but Lou has shown and continues to show how good of a GM he is and the moves he makes are genius 99% of the time
> habs won a majority of their cups when there were 10 or even 6 teams.. Devils have won all of theirs when there were 30 I believe. Oilers haven't been relevant since 2006. Panthers haven't been relevant since 1996 (want to say never been relevant tbh..). Habs haven't been relevant since '93. I don't see where you're going here. Fighting a big up hill battle.
- The only way I could see you or anyone else here justifiably talking shit about the Devils are if they are a Blackhawks/Red Wings/Penguins and maybe a Bruins fan.. Panthers are the most laughable franchise in hockey... or even sports, so I wouldn't even go there
> 'Oilers have bred more talent'.. literally laughed out loud on that one.
tl;dr I find your ignorance humorous
your best prospect is a guy who got kicked from his own team for giving up on it, what will happend in the NHL?
l0l
"wanted to go home" is a bad excuse. devils gave up parise to get kovalchuk, if he wanted to go home for years, they wouldnt have signed him, once again, made up bullshit
elias is 37, when devils "prospects that are going to make the nhl this year" are top liners (are any even projected to have that upside?) elias is out, thats what i meant
zajac is a "great C" with career high whopping 67 points. last 3 years? 44, 6 and 20. being good at faceoffs doesn't make you a first line center.
brodeur is old and will probably retire very soon, he can't carry the team with their new bunch of superduper prospects making it up the ranks
why didn't you make the playoffs this year then? you might think those two guys were just two guys, but they were the reason you were there. how much more taletn do you have elsewhere now? did you replace the kovalchuk and parise points? no, but you can keep imagining that. your rebuild will fall apart since your two best players left the team and the core pieces that's still producing are about to retire. where will you get the points when elias retires, and brodeur retires? nowhere, schneider isn't proven and can't be used as excuse. that's like saying toronto are contenders with bernier
i dont understand why it matters how many cups they won back then, the league is way more watered down today than before, the league was tougher to play in and there was way more talent.
so can we discredit all history since chicago won the cup this year too? it's irrelevant in the same way
do you even realize how much talent oilers have bred?
i don't understand what MY team ices have to do with the devils, so just because i cheer for a "bad" team means i know nothing about hockey? schneider isn't a proven starter, he've choked just as much as luongo in the playoffs. he lost the job to the teams back-up
should i start bandwagonning the winner every year to have a legit point?
