a team and it's crazy fans doesn't mean that much to a mentally sound grown man. it's a game, if anything be happy for a player when they get something better out of their career/life

You can still consider someone to be loyal even if he leaves his last year to try and win a cup.

all players I would consider loyal. Each gave their teams their best years and then some.Staying just for the sake of staying is idiotic, if the team doesnt have a good place for you or doesn't have a competitive chance and you're on your last year, the logical and most value added choice is to go.

49 times out of 50 that player will still retire with the original team

I'd say it was a case of the team not having player loyalty? And a bad contract

Hejduk? Although he may have played in Europe I can't remember

I don't think lecav had any bad loyalty either way. The situation changed and his contract was no longer manageable under this cba, and the compliance buyouts essentially lowered the cost of letting him go.

hejduk yeah, probably lots of other examples.

Bergeron gets 8 years, 6.5M per

wowww, i mean he's really good, but i feel 6.5 is too much.

6.5 for an elite player is lots better than the contracts given away this off-season (clarkson etc)

Constantly bundled with Datsyuk and Toews as far as 2 way centers go.. seems about right.

See, I think 6.5 is fine, but 8 years is brutal. Guy has already had a lot of major concussion issues. I doubt he lasts 5, let alone 8
