Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher addressed the media this morning about the reasoning for recalling goaltender Darcy “ from the Houston Aeros.
Fletcher stated that Josh Harding has been feeling some ill effects relating to new medication he is taking for multiple sclerosis. Harding announced that he was diagnosed with MS in the fall. The Wild GM didn’t give a timetable for Harding’s return nor elaborate on how the netminder was feeling at this time. He noted that Harding was open about how he was feeling and spoke about the goaltender’s desire to do what’s best for the team at this time. WildTV will have a video of Fletcher speaking shortly.
Harding is skating at the team’s optional practice this morning and is expected to speak later today.

“It’s hard to predict the future,” Fletcher said. “But we’ve been told that any MS patient in the early stages after the diagnosis, there’s a lot of trial and error in terms of which medication works. Every case is different and we’ve been told it could take a little bit of time to get the right course of treatment. We’re very confident we’ll get there, but there could be some ups and downs along the way. He’s been battling through. He’s practicing today. He’s continuing to battle through, but we just have to do what’s in his interest and our team’s interest. The good thing is we have lots of depth. We have good players here, we have good players in Houston. We’re here to support Josh. He’s a great teammate and everybody in the room’s behind him.”
