Trading Miller would be BM. You don't sign free agents and trade them in the first year... unless you want to scare away potential UFA in the future.

Like Philly did with Carter and Richards iirc, sign them to extensions then trade them.

I agree that signing Miller was stupid, but now that it's been done, you gotta work with it.

Right now with the situation they put themselves in, one of Miller, lack, or markstrom should be traded.

Cant the mentality be that your team is behind you so much that they're willing to trade a different goalie? Or can you only look at it the way you are.

These are professional athletes. If they can't handle the possibility of trades, then they aren't cut out for it.

You can screw a goalie's confidence. Look at Bobrovsky. They signed Bryz in a very similar fashion after trading several goalies and he suddenly played like crap. Like I said, again, if you'd read my post, Demko probably feels great about it right now. But it's not a good standard to set.

Doesn't trading away every prospective goalie in your pool while signing hot topic free agents also scare away people you draft? It's early in their development and they know they've been drafted by a team that has traded the last few people like them. That affects their future value and potential.

What do you mean?

I'm just saying it's BM. Habs just signed Gallagher to a 6 year contract, if we trade him this year it would scare away other players from signing an extension here.

bm or not its business and those were solid trades that improved the team
maybe if carter n richards didnt go out and party all the time they would still be flyers too

to be treated like a professional you gotta act like one in the nhl refusing to act like one is bm to the team thats paying you millions

Yes it happens I know. We all know why Miller chose Vancouver. Location. It's business but there is a way of doing it also.

They signed them to extensions knowing their off ice situations already.

I dont think Miller's signing was stupid, as much as I like Lack and feel like he is ready, I don't think he could play a great full season yet.
3 years was definitely a mistake though, probably 1 would've been nice, but Miller wouldn't have agreed to that. lol
