1040 said a deal was in place with Dallas, maybe the same as Russell, and then Canucks broke it off.

Conflicting reports. Radio saying a deal was in place and something fishy happened (possibly relating to ownership) but Benning denied it.

He also said there were no 1st or 2nd rounders available when Chicago gave one up, Dallas gave one conditionally and a ton of 2nd rounders were tossed around.
