Yeah but what would we even get in return from Tampa/Caps ... I'd be more inclined to trade to SJS, but trading within our conference would suck

Doesn't really matter who we trade him to 'cause it'll likely be for a late 1st or an equivalent prospect (hopefully). Trading him inside the conference or even division shouldn't matter because he's an upcoming UFA.

Teams like Chicago and Washington are both great fits. Both these teams' first rounder will likely be in the 27-30 spot.

A lower tier "contender" might not be willing to give up their 1st.

Such a terrible game to win.

Tomorrow will be a huge, huge game for the tank.

At least Hamhuis looks great.

There's no chance you're seeing first-round picks go out for rental players this year," one Western Conference hockey executive said Tuesday. "Those days are over."

Prospect Update:

Won't be covering them all, especially 'cause most of them have slowed down as the season has gone on :( Just a few quick notes.

Demko: 19-4-3 / 1.64 GAA / .940 SV% in NCAA
Continued his great season by breaking Cory Schneider's Boston College single season shutout record with 9 a few days ago.

Subban: 25 points in 39 games in AHL
Still putting up solid numbers, seems to be really driving the team's offense recently.

Gaudette: 20 points in 28 games in NCAA
Putting up pretty good numbers for a 5th rounder freshman. Still not a great prospect or anything but could be someone to keep an eye on going forward.

Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Olson, Neill and Zhukenov have all slowed down a bit but are still having solid seasons overall. However, the likelihood of any of these guys becoming impact NHLers is extremely low (Shink is probably the only one with that potential and it's not very high).

“We’re going to see where we’re at in the next five or six games, but I would even look to add if we can to make our team better so we can compete for a playoff spot.”

This is the worst. This is the absolute fucking worst... it's just the fucking worst.

WHY DID WE HAVE TO WIN THESE TWO FUCKING GAMES.

FUCK.

Absolutely paramount that we start losing now or our rebuild will be set back a complete year (at least).
