So the new Avs goalie Werner played his first NHL gane against the Jets the other night. He saved all 40 shots he faced and got credited with a shutout despite the fact that he came in relief of Francouz after he got injured. It got me wondering what are the criterias for a shutout ? I always thought you had to play the full game but looks like I was wrong. What if Francouz had allowed a goal before Werner came in relief ? Would it have been considered a shutout still ?
Anyone know ?
After some researches it sounds like the commentators were wrong and he wasn't credited with a SO if anyone were interested.
