it's funny how "current sticks" aren't helping other as much as ovechkin though eh?

The more insane part is that Stammer is the next guy to challenge ovie for goals,
he played like 4 seasons worth of less games than ovechkin, and even if he managed to score 50goals he would still be behind lol

Yeah, Tampa had 3 goal scorers with 40+ goals, Washington had one.

which is even more insane, pretty much proving he's unstoppable.
not only rest of his team cant even reach 30 goals, he led the team in pts too.

pretty sure ovechkin's goal total would INCREASE if he had couple other players with 90pt seasons, including a 128pt.
all those extra points stammer had to work with, got him to 45.

I think you mean point total

Washington relies on Ovechkin's shot, D tend to get the assist on his goals

how do you know that?

Teams didn't play like that one timer back then

Gretzky was passing off to Kurri for the one timer during that time.

Those two perfected that play and Kurri was the first player to have such good accuracy on the one timer.

The chemistry those two had was a thing of brilliance during that time. We are lucky that those two came up at the same time, with the same team.

If Kurri did not have such a good landing spot when he arrived at the NHL so many things would be different.

This.

That is why I was arguing for Ovechkin being the greatest pure goal scorer.

You compare him to his peers over a 15 year span and it is complete domination.

Gretzky dominated the 80's but during the 90's he was not even in the top 50 for goals scored.

Ovechkin has done it consistently for 15 years and despite his age is not slowing down.

Every other player has the same access to new equipment, training programs, tailored diets and so forth; So I agree with your point.

wouldn't that say Gretzky could have 900+ goals but he was pass first player

No I actually meant goals.
Tampa as a team had 114 extra points lol
Like ur saying caps rely heavily on Ovechkins shot to succeed, can u imagine if he had 114pts extra to play with?? Let's say it's distributed generously and he takes only about 15pts from that, u don't see at least 5 or more to be goals?
Just cuz he has 2 90+ players doesn't mean he will suddenly turn into pass first player like Henrik Sedin imo, he will still be a shooter first, but benefit from all those extra points his teammates generate with him

Tampa is dominant cuz they have so many options and not rely just on one player. caps don't have as great luxury as tampa, but somehow teams are still having a tough time to shutdown just a single deadly target in Ovechkin. He's not young anymore, he's been around the league so long, yet he's still producing goals is what makes him gr8
