A lot more people would do cocaine if they could afford it lol...

Honestly besides this being a potentially bad influence to kids/teenagers I do not see what the big deal is.

It does not give him benefit on the ice so from a competition standpoint I don't see how it is unfair to use recreational drugs.

I don't care if someone uses drugs leisurely.

His performance is not reduced and he shows no significant health problems at this point from what we can see.

Maybe I am too lax but I don't see what the big deal is. This is a personal choice imo. So long as he fulfills his professional obligations and is not hurting anyone I don't see the problem.

How do you know his performance isn't reduced? Maybe he would be scoring more if he wasn't using. When you invest millions of dollars in someone you want them to take it seriously and not fuck it up. Not mention he may not have any apparent immediate health issues but coke destroys the heart, it will impact him.

If I was the owner or someone invested I would be pissed off because risking your health and tarnishing the brand is bad for business so I can see your point.

I wonder how the NHLPA and the owners draw out the contracts in terms of how player behavior is dictated. I would imagine it is a complex process.

How much control should an employer have over the individual though? I don't see a problem with occasional recreational drug use if you keep it under wraps because that is a personal choice imo. When it begins to impact performance that is when correction is needed.

That is extremely debatable/difficult to determine though.

It appears the issue is just swept under the rug because so many are using cocaine. They can't suspend/punish that many players because it would look really bad to admit so many players are using.
