not to mention he only scored 30 goals once. And never even came close to do it a second time. Not worth 5m imo

Don't get me wrong, every team would love to have a Clarkson but that contract is just outright stupid. That's a "star" player contract, not a grinder who will give you some goals. Even if they are few and far between.

15 goals this year is pretty similar to a 30 goal season

5m is pretty on par with 30 goal scorers. Hell, filppula got 5m and he's had one 20 goal season. It's a matter of comparables.
Star contracts are 6.5+ nowadays.

We just had a lockout BECAUSE of these contracts.
