PROSPECT UPDATE

Shinakruk:
- 12 points in 11 games (AHL)
- Excellent start to the season, and nice to see him coming around after a tough first half to his first pro season last year.
- For him to be a top-6 forward in the NHL, he needs to stay around that PPG clip.

Gaunce:
- 6 points in 7 games (AHL) + 1 point in 2 games (NHL)
- Continues to trend upwards, should be a decent bottom-6er in the NHL eventually.
- Points aren't as important for someone like him because a grinder's game usually translates well from the AHL to the NHL.

Subban:
- 4 points in 8 games (AHL)
- Up and down start to his pro career, he's been scratched a few times.
- He can produce offense at this level but his consistency on defense continues to be questioned.

Cassels:
- 1 point in 9 games (AHL)
- Terrible start to his pro career both when it comes to stats and on-ice play, he's also been scratched a few times.
- Extremely disappointing considering he was a considered a "safe" prospect, someone who looked like a future 3C in the NHL.
- However, just like Shinkaruk last year, he had a very short summer because of injury. It might take him a while to get comfortable, perhaps even almost a full year like it did Shinkaruk.

Demko:
- 8-1-0, 0.974 SV%, 0.67 GAA (college), guy is on fire.
- By most accounts he's a future starter in the NHL, but we likely won't even see him in a backup role for at least 3 years.

Boeser:
- 7 points in 10 games (college)
- Good start but has cooled off (pointless in his last 3). However, one or two good games will get him back around PPG.
- Here is a rough guide for expectations for a freshman:
0.8 PPG = decent
1.0 PPG = good
1.2 PPG = excellent
1.4 PPG = elite (players that have produced at this level include Eichel, Larkin, Schwartz, Pacioretty and... Schroeder lol)

Markstrom called back up from his conditioning stint, Bachman sent down.

Word is Markstrom looked rusty in his 2 games with Utica despite a 1-0-1 record.

I imagine he gets 1 of the 2 next games at least, and perhaps 2 of the remaining 5 left on this road trip overall.

5 games in 9 days starting tomorrow (every 2nd day). First we visit Torts in CBJ and then the 4 non-western Canadian teams.

Its nice not having pizza deliveries for the last couple games, even though Hutton made him look much better.

Better to have him in over Weber because they refuse to use Weber properly. Sbisa can at least eat PK minutes.

One thing is for sure, Biega shouldn't be coming out of the lineup. Guy's a stud.

this.
Beiga > pizza > weber

weber is hella useless, he's literally only there for his shot, but his shot either misses the net or gets blk'd so he's nulled ggnore

Weber won't be useful until they take Edler off the PP. Edler single-handedly kills our PP.

That would mean Edler can play more even-strength minutes. He can even double-shift sometimes and take them away Weber, so Weber can stay around 10 sheltered ES minutes.

Tanev - Edler
Hutton - Biega
Hamhuis - Weber

Sedin - Sedin - Sutter
Vrbata - Weber

as the 1st unit PP in the Washington formation.

Horvat, Burrows, McCann, Hutton and Baertschi on the 2nd unit in the umbrella formation. Horvat and Burrows down low, Hutton up top. Replace Bae with Tanev whenever he's not in the lineup.
