3 years at big money is quite the risk for a 38 year-old with a ton of miles on his body.
This management team hasn't really made any mistakes so far, this has the potential to be their 1st. But it could also turn out just fine, it'll be interesting.
He's going to have to out produce jvr and kadri from what I can see assuming he's unmovable at year 3. Those 2 would seem to be automatic outs to make room for marner / Mathews contracts in 2 years. And likely 1 4 mil defensemen too. Can't see him bring more useful at that point than any of the moveable players they have. ofc a lot can happen in 2 years
Signing him to 3 vs 2 years would seem to put Toronto in a real pintch in the key elc expiry year.
