I don't know if you would consider it a distinct kicking motion. the intent is obvious but what do you define as a "kicking motion"?

I say this as a guy cheering for the Oilers. Pretty controversial call either way. Not sure how I feel about it.

Usually the league seems to want to award a goal and not take one away so I was surprised by this a bit.

The one tv angle definitely showed he looked at it and kicked it. All the other angles made it seem like he slid into it.

No way in hell is that a distinct (and deliberate) kicking motion. Dude literally had his legs knocked out from underneath him by the sliding oilers defender right when he was supposedly kicking the puck into the net.
