He ended up taking a deal in the KHL for 2.8 on his first year

4M per year vs 2.7M, decent amount. Even more when you consider the KHL money is tax free

remember that its probably a way to get on the olympic team too

anyway, its pretty complicated the story ive heard.

im sad to see him go, he was one of my favorite players. hopefully someone steps up and fills his role.

yeah, and forsberg won two olympic golds, doesn't mean he's guaranteed a spot next time

hes good enough to make that team regardless. apparently he switched agents two times over the last year, in the midst of the blues trying to extend him to a 3-5 yr deal at 2.7-2.8mil.

his new agent is known for moving players to the khl, and there was some disagreement between the blues and his agent.

so they parted ways. i dont blame him, ill just miss him.

yeah, but because he made it this time doesnt mean he'll make it next time, a lot of good young russians around still, playing in KHL guarantees the spot almost
