From what I heard Sbisa played well tonight?

he was average, but since he's below average 99% of the time
he played well to his own standards
but to hutton standards, sbisa bust

Everyone looked good out there tonight, but that's because we were facing Edmonton... the only team whose defense might be worse than ours in the West.

However that doesn't change the fact that he should be our #8 D-man based on the preseason as a whole.

Unfortunately he'll be gifted the #5 spot.

much as i like kenins, he isn't playing as he did last season.
maybe the coach told them he's being waived? or he made the team for sure? definitely played like he gave 0 fucks tonight.
slow line changes, barely any hits or intensity he had last season etc.

- Kenins surely will be sent down to Utica because he's one of the bubble guys that is exempt from waivers. He's also been outplayed by Gaunce and McCann.

- Today was Virtanen's first good game of the preseason. I think what he does next game will determine what happens to him (I want him sent down but Benning is adamant he stays up).

- Gaunce should definitely be Higgins's replacement. If he plays well during that time, keep him in the lineup. However, I have a bad feeling that Virtanen and Gaunce are fighting for one spot and Virtanen will get it 'cause he's a Benning guy.

- General thought seems to be that McCann will be sent down and Vey will be gifted the 4th C spot. Unfortunate but it's not like McCann's development will be hindered by another year in junior. He still needs to mature physically.

- Burrows isn't what he used to be but he doesn't need to be rested. Prust can't even skate anymore. He shouldn't be in the lineup but he'll be forced in because of his "valuable" face-punching.

Gaunce and Kenins sent down. Not surprising considering most other guys would be exposed to waivers.

Kenins deserved the demotion but Gaunce deserved an extended tryout in Higgins's spot while he was injured.





McCann / Vey / Cracknell all fighting for the 4C spot. Gonna assume McCann is sent down and whichever one doesn't win the 4C spot will be kept up as the 13th forward.

Still have 9 D-men jockeying for position.
