If Hall is going to get traded it should be for a package of futures or straight-up for stud D-man around the same age/worth. What they definitely shouldn't do is trade for a package of current NHLers.

I didnt propose that it would happen someone said it and i just posed what my reaction as a leaf fan would be, that being excitement in summary.

I dont want leafs to trade kadri at all.

An overpaid Phaneuf is still better than no Phaneuf.

Anytime a Leaf fan suggests getting rid of Phaneuf they should think who will match up against top lines without him, then they should change their mind.

Well the idea of a trade is you get someone else ;) we wouldn't just be dropping him from the roster for no one lol

And yes hall+ a first doesn't solve d but that allows you to move your first and a lower level forward or w/e etc

I think there are defensemen who do the same job as ph9 at a lower price point the question is when you have shot yourself in the foot with a bad signing it get complicated to maneuver.

There's very few D-men that can play Phaneuf's role on the market. Teams don't wanna give up legit 5/6 D-men, forget top-4s.

If you trade away Phaneuf you'll have a tough time finding a deal for someone to take his spot, at least at a fair price.
