Eh, in my eyes, the "best player in the world" changes every year. There's no definitely answer because every player keeps evolving year to year, or at least tries, while others regress or have off years.

Then there's the fact that a large part of playoff performance is luck based, and a lot of what the greatest players do isn't shown on regular stats. But right now, I'd agree with Toews, but not last year

In both kings cup years Doughty really took over. He and Toews are great at inspiring the rest of the team which is what sets them apart. That's a huge reason why hawks have been to finals so many times in the last 6 years despite having to liquidate the team after each cup. Toews and Kane together are worth three or four roster spots in terms of effectiveness, it'll be interesting to see what happens with the new cap hits.
