What does the code say about cross checking guys from behind into the boards?
A play that’s far more dangerous in every way but is more or less accepted and often as not , not even penalized.

He deserves a suspension cause it’s a stupid thing to do. It’s not more dangerous than a lot of stuff that goes totally ignored by the so called department of player safety

Oh I agree 100% The depart of player safety is a total joke.... So much of what the league claims they want to remove from the game continues to happen without discipline.

Hits from behind are code but they still happen way too often. Kicking is another issue alltogether. When is the last time you saw one player kick another? I cant even recall when that last happened.

It is something you just don't do. I think the suspension is excessive, but imo the league got the one right. It is very unlikely we will see that happen again now. Kassian is partially a victim of being the fall guy in the name of precedence.

In the end though, it was still a really dumb thing to do so that is why I don't feel that sorry for him.

The players don't even know what punishment they will receive (if any) because plays close to identical will get one player a 2 minute penalty and another a suspension.

They system needs a complete overhaul in terms of how fines/suspensions are assessed. The biggest issue is obviously consistency. It creates a safety risk and jeopardizes the integrity of the game.
