Canes deal Adam Fox to Rags for a 2nd and conditional 3rd.

So Flames get: Lindholm (79p), and Hanafin (28p)

Canes get: Ferland (40p), and Hamilton (39p), +2nd and 3rd.

I still think we win this trade by a lot, especially because they probably can't resign Ferland. And obviously Fox wasn't going anywhere but where he wanted. And Dougie turned out to be a headcase.

If Canes win the cup (lol), then obviously the narrative will change though, whether we actually won the trade or not.

Ferdaddy injured as hell all post season. Dougie heavily sheltered. They're in it, but not because of them tho.

The thing I found most interesting is that it confirmed that Fox indeed (as everyone speculated) only wanted to play for the NYR.

I dont think there's any realistic way we lose this trade. Maybe Wadell is interested in 1 slightly used, toothless James Neal?

They should have let Fox rot in the AHL or something like that.

I hate when young players feel entitled to chose where they play. Like you haven't played a single NHL game, just be grateful a team is giving you a chance. I hope he flops.

I agree it sucks and I hope he ends up a career ECHL player

Same thing happened to us with Tim Erixon, who ironically also wanted to play for the Rangers. He waited until 2 months before he was scheduled to become a free agent to tell the Flames he wasnt going to sign here. I expect them to change how the FA system works in regards to college players in the next CBA. Right now its an uneccessary risk to drafting college players.

Remember Tim Erixon, D prospect who refused to play anywhere except the Rangers as well, and was total garbage? Deja vu

Yeah I remember the Erixon saga as well. Looked at his stats and I'm glad to see he's been nothing more than an AHL player.

I don't know if they will change the rules or what. For the most part players still sign with the team who drafted them.. It's pretty rare that players wait the full three ( I think ? ) years to become UFA, usually they'll want their signing bonus and sign after one or two years. I think the Flames have just been unlucky with Erixon and Fox.

Had to look it up to believe it, Chris freakin Butler wins a Stanley Cup. The guy has played 25 nhl games in the last 4 years total, with the rest in the AHL. Lucky guy.

Grats to Bouwmeeser too. Met him once at a running race. Guy is nice, but awkward as hell.
