When was Toews the hero ?
He's just a good player playing on a stacked team. If he had been drafred by a team like the Islanders he probably wouldn't even be in the talk for the top 15 players.
I think people who don't watch him play have this faulty idea in their head that he's just a good leader on a great team.
He's an elite player in a vacuum when it comes to pure hockey:
- the only other player that can match his play on the boards is Crosby
- one of the best in the league playing in front of the net/ in the crease
- his elite passing ability is one of the best kept secrets in the league
- above average shooter and skater
- the best two-way center in the league
- excellent advanced stat/possession numbers
There's a reason Babcock gives him more ice-time than Crosby in the Olympics.
Winning follows him and has his entire life since he was a kid. People need to understand that he's not a product of great players around him but instead the main ingredient that makes a great team.
pls recognize
