The fact that we have a positive carbon foot print means we should abandon all efforts to reduce co2?

Hlobal warming is not something that we can just say well we did our share, fuck it.

Nations like canada need to find ways to become more environmentally sustainable in order to compensate for countries who wont, lile china.

There is no sense crying about every tax. The taxes are there to make your life, community, country even planet better. Get upset about tax money being mismanaged or misspent.

But quit your complaining about the taxes themselves

Taxing us will do nothing to combat global warming. Canada produces 1.5% of total global co2. Until other major countries, the "big four" pulluters, actually get on board and do something. Anything Canada will do is negligible.

Australia had the same carbon tax as us a few years back. They had the same mentality as you do. Thinking we have to stop this and that a tax will help! Well after 2 years. Once they realized no one else in the world gave a shit about them. And that they're just hurting themselves economically. They repealed it. The people (Australians) were told just the big companies will be taxed, that they won't be paying more. But once it kicked in. They found every time they went to fill up on gas, they were paying more. Every time they went to the grocery store, they were paying more. So sure maybe the ppl were not taxed. But they were paying much for for commodities aswell as on their housing bills.

HOW DOES THIS STOP GLOBAL WARMING?!

It doesn't. It's just a cash grab from government.

And nearin, the ppl of Canada will figure this out come the next elections.

China is OPENING a dozen more coal powered energy plants. Very very dirty. NOTley says she's shutting down albertas. BUT she then sells all our coal to china now. How the fuck does this help.

Carbon tax is a joke. And just a cash grab.

What it boils down to I guess. Is that there is no overcompensating anyone can do to make up for what china and USA emit for co2. Absolutely a futile battle until they change their ways

The sooner Trudeau implements his feel good but does nothing but hurt low income Canadians carbon tax the sooner we are rid of him so I'm all for it. Really hope he gets it in place in time to lose next election.

The environment is beyond saving at this point. Big businesses just don't give. Enough fucks and they're the ones who would make the largest impact

It's both. Without the consumers need for the product the business wouldn't exist.
People in general rely too much on material things.
More people need to start taking a minimalistic approach to life. A big problem is a majority of the population putting such high value on things like new TVs, phones, clothes etc.

However things like gas for you car is an exception because it allows for the most effective form of travel available for the majority.

You have to put some blame on companies for not allocating more resources towards developing electric or other forms of transportation that rely on different power sources that won't harm the environment as much as gas does.

Just wait for another 30 years. Where all factories are robotic. And millions upon millions of people are jobless.

The earth needs a war.

I see this as a good thing. Hopefully it enables people to pursue their interests and take more action investing in themselves as opposed to just working to live.
